It’s September! And while I’m a bit sad about summer being officially over, I always look forward to this time of year because it always means one thing: The annual Tibetan Bazaar is near!
When: Saturday + Sunday, September 20 – 21, 2014; 10 AM to 5 PM daily
Where: Alberta Avenue Community League Hall, 9210 – 118 Ave, Edmonton, AB
Admission: $5 / 12 and under FREE
I Love the Bazaar, and You Will Too!
I’ve been a member of Gaden Samten Ling Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Society and the Alberta Centre for Peace since 2009, and while I’m a bit of a “fair-weather” attendee, I’ve always loved this community + will forever be grateful for how much it’s impacted my life.
The Tibetan Bazaar is our annual celebration of Tibetan culture – the only one of its kind in central and northern Alberta.
Our society has hosted this unique festival for over 20 years, and it continues to increase in popularity. In fact, in 2013, we hosted over 1000 people during the entire weekend!
Bring the entire family to this amazing event! Each day, festival attendees can:
- Enjoy our wonderful market filled with a vast array of Himalayan merchandise
- Eat delicious traditional Tibetan food
- Listen to meditation teachings from our Spiritual Director, Kushok Lobsang Dhamchoe (a Tibetan monk)
- Attend cultural and wellness presentations
- Win door prizes!
Plus, start your Christmas shopping early and get perfect, unique gifts! Peruse the Himalayan marketplace for items such as:
- Handmade Tibetan wool carpets
- Hand-woven textiles
- Silk and pashmina shawls
- Unusual wood carvings
- Exceptional jewellery
- Traditional and modern art
